How does PhotDev work?

It parses Lightroom develop settings from a film preset library and re-implements each operation — tone curves, HSL, split toning, film grain — in a JavaScript engine running in Web Workers, with grain character matched to each film medium.

Does PhotDev collect data?

Photos are processed on-device and never uploaded. PhotDev sends cookieless, coarse usage events to improve the app. It never sends photos, filenames, search text, settings, URLs or location, and it does not link activity across days.

What does PhotDev require?

Any modern browser on desktop or mobile. iPhone HEIC photos work out of the box via a WebAssembly decoder.

Does PhotDev have an API for AI agents?

Yes. The public agent API at api.phot.dev applies an exact or automatic film-inspired filter in one multipart request, without an API key. The shared public pool is limited to 100 transformations per UTC day.
